BIOGRAPHY
As a Neuropsychiatrist and expert in Translational Clinical Neuroscience, Sandlin Lowe, MD has special interests in depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive conditions, ADHD, and PTSD. He also has expertise in treating traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), strokes, seizure disorders, cognitive impairments, dementia, and neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Lowe’s innovative approaches provide new insights into the core pathology of many neuropsychiatric disorders and the etiologies of these Thalamocortical Dysrhythmias. Dr. Lowe incorporates functional brain neuroimaging utilizing Quantitative Electroencephalography (qEEG), SPECT brain imaging and fMRI in the design of new treatment protocols, including fMRI guided transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). His prior research contributions have included work with both qEEG and Magnetoencephalography (MEG). Dr. Lowe is a recipient of two Congressional Awards for his research work at Bellevue Hospital Center and NYU. He was previously on the Faculty of the NYU School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Department of Physiology & Neuroscience. Dr. Lowe has been a Consulting Neuropsychiatrist to the NYU School of Medicine Brain Research Laboratories and the NYU Langone Center for Neuromagnetism. Dr. Lowe completed his medical degree at Tulane University.
